[Shinzon is not happy. Not happy at all. He's in a lot of pain, but he is really accustomed to fighting bodily agony, so the only emotion he's sending out is rage.]

Where is he?

[For all those poor schmucks in the infirmary, Shinzon is puling off whatever bandages he has around his neck, intent on getting the hell out of there.]

Yes. [She shrugged and half-smiled.] I've told you more about myself [*cough*nottomentionsleptwith*cough*] than anyone else on this ship. I think that entitles you to be called a friend.

[He shifted for a moment, then leaned toward her again, slowly.] Then be a friend to me, Kahlan. I don't want to be here.

[She rolled her eyes.] Being your friend doesn't mean I'm going to go along with everything you ask of me. You're staying. For at least a day.

[Shinzon grit his teeth, almost baring them.] I don't need to be poked and prodded while I recover, Kahlan. I'll be better off in my quarters. Just listen to me!

And what's to stop you from going after Alastair instead of resting as you should be? Aside from me locking you in your cabin.

I can't get at him in a Level 0 cell, [he said tightly.]

Just stay here for a day and then I'll see about taking you back to your cabin.

And if I disagree, the doctors will keep me sedated until they discharge me. [He stared at the ceiling again, tight lipped.]

I you behave yourself, there won't be a need to sedate you.

[He ignored her in favor of pulling against the restraints again.]

Shinzon, please stop. [Once again she moves to keep him still, but this time she uses both hands on his shoulders.] You're not making it any better.

Get off me, [he growled, jerking from one side to another.]

All right. [She let go and crossed her arms.]

[After a moment of thinking, she spoke again.] If you promise me you will behave, I'll remove your restraints and get you back to your room. But only if I have your word you will rest and not doing anything foolish. Otherwise, I'm leaving you here with the doctors.

[He stilled, eyes narrowed in suspicion.] You'll have them release me today?

If you stop acting like a petulant child, then, yes, I will take you out of here.

[She really has no intention of telling the doctors. They have their hands full already and one less angry patient should be a relief to them.]

[That's fine with Shinzon. He narrows his eyes at the insult, but nods.] Then do it.

[She set about undoing the restraints and then held a hand out to him in case he needed it. She had no idea how drugged up he might be.]

[Eh. Could be worse. Shinzon's quick to slide off the bed and get to his feet, determined to ignore that hand. But everything shifts a little uncomfortably, and he grabs at her forearm, steadying himself uncomfortably.]

Are you all right? [She's taken a light hold of his arm to help keep him balanced. She hoped he be well enough to walk.]

Fine. [His voice was clipped, and he reached a hand up to run over his head, half expecting to feel veins raised from his skin.]

[Kahlan didn't reply, she just gave Shinzon a look and started leading him out of the Infirmary.]

[It certainly FELT like his body was trying to fall apart, but he could see no outward signs. His hands looked normal, his head felt normal. So he ignored that look and managed to walk out mostly solid on his feet - and mostly glad that his room wasn't very far at all.]

[Kahlan was glad too. It was slow going but she got him to his room without much interference from any of the Infirmary staff. Though, she imagine she'd get an earful from Dr. McCoy later.]

[Once there, Shinzon sank to his bed - stiffly, though. This was a pain he'd grown used to hiding around all but his most trusted; Vruk was the one he'd allowed to see at his worst.]

Thank you, [He managed to grate out.]

You're welcome. [She smiled kindly, the she looked around the room wondering if she should go or stay.] Is there anything you need?
